CHILLICOTHE - Jane L. (Starnes) Loser, age 94, of Chillicothe died on Friday, July 25, 2014, at Heritage Health Center in Chillicothe.

Jane was a wonderful loving mother and grandmother. She was the happiest when she was spending time with her family. She loved to fish and spend time with her husband at their cabin in Walnut Grove. She also liked to work in her yard, gardening and mowing, which she did until age 90. She loved her animals, especially dogs.

She was born on Sept. 1, 1919, in Peoria to Arthur and Margaretta (Wasson) Starnes. She married Richard Loser on May 29, 1939, in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1982.

Surviving are two daughters, Eileen Turpin of Chillicothe and Linda (Bill) Buddle of Arlington Heights; two sons, Arthur (Shirley) Loser of Chillicothe and Terry Loser of Chillicothe; 10 grandchildren, Tim (Kathy) Turpin, Todd (Bev) Turpin, Heather (Eric) Gross, Melinda Buddle, Shannon Buddle, Bill (Melinda) Buddle, Michelle Brian, Scott Loser, Amy (Mike) Greer and Dale (Megan) Loser; 11 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and two very good friends, Linda Williams and Jim Fortson.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Loser; son-in-law, Jerry Turpin; granddaughter, Gretchen Buddle; grandson, Ron Turpin; sister, Mary Lou Rollison; and a brother, Vance Starnes.

Jane graduated form Chillicothe High School and attended Brown's Business School.

She worked at Foster & Gallagher and was a tax collector and election judge for Hallock Township for many years.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Chillicothe VFW Post 4999.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The Rev. Ed Dutton will officiate. Visitation will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.
