Larry Lawrence Obituary

PEORIA HEIGHTS - Larry A. Lawrence, 79, of Peoria Heights passed away at 11:34 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Larry was born Dec. 21, 1934, in Newton, Iowa, to Verle and Ora (Bauer) Lawrence. He married Patsy Roth in Canton in 1956. She preceded him in death. He later married Maureen (Romont) Webster in Peoria on June 13, 1992. She survives.

Also surviving is his son, Steve (Michele) Lawrence of Peoria Heights; a stepdaughter, Anne Webster of Chillicothe; a stepson, Michael Webster of Los Angeles; one sister, Donna (Bob) Howey of California; one brother, Tom (Susan) Lawrence of Missouri; and three grandsons, Nicholas, Zachary and Matthew Lawrence.

He was preceded in death by one stepson, James Webster, who died in 2003.

Larry was a veteran, having served in the U. S. Army for two years.

After high school, he attended the University of Southern California.

For many years, Larry had been in sales for Heritage Spring in Bloomington, but he was most proud of his 10 years as a tour guide on Maui for Ekahi Tours.

Larry had been a member of Peoria Elks Lodge 20 for more than 51 years. During that time, he had served as Exalted Ruler and District Deputy.

He also loved to bowl when he had the opportunity.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the nursing staff at 5100 OSF and Cornerstone Nursing Home for their kindness and care during Larry's final months.

He was a member of Mount Hawley Community Church in Peoria, where funeral services will be today, Aug. 2, 2014, at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Klotz officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded following services Saturday, and Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family.

Memorials for Larry may be directed to his church.
