HOPEDALE - George R. "Jiggs" Livengood, 92, of Hopedale, formerly of Delavan, passed away at 7:03 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Hopedale Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Delavan to Loren and Cena Diekhoff Livengood. He married Agnes Eeten on Sept. 20, 1942, in Emden. She passed away Jan. 6, 2006.
Surviving are one daughter, Judy (Terry) Pomrenke of Pekin; one son, Dennis (Donna) Livengood of Pekin; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one stepgrandson; two stepgreat-granddaughters; three sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Todd Pomrenke, two brothers and three sisters.
Jiggs farmed in the Tre- mont and Delavan areas most of his life and also did carpentry and electrical work for many years.
He was a member of Delavan United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee and spent much time volunteering for various projects at the church.
He served on the Delavan Board of Education, Delavan Fire Protection District and Hopedale Medical Complex Board.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at Delavan United Methodist Church. Pastor Gene Ramsey will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan.
