RUSHVILLE - Eva G. Little, 97, of Rushville passed away at 4:49 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at the Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mount Sterling.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1916, in Brooklyn Township, Schuyler County, Ill., the daughter of the late John and Margaret Elsie (VanWinkle) Greenleaf. She married James A. Little on Aug. 16, 1935, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1981.
Surviving are three sons, James W. (Sue) Little of Peoria, John N. (Sonja) Little of Mount Sterling and Jay E. (Teresa) Little of Frederick; one daughter, Judy (Charles) Dupoy of Rushville; 12 grandchildren Kim McGurder, James F. (Vickie) Little, Loree Little, Pete (Lisa) Dupoy, Michelle (Brian) Hillyer, Dale (Sarah) Dupoy, Sara (Rick) Collins, Candy (Charles) Erwin, Earl (Megan) Little, Hank (Ashley) Little, Megan (Chris) Zimny and Mandi Rebman; 22 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Ann Little; a great-grandson, Jacob Alexander Dupoy; two brothers Glen "Bud" Greenleaf and Marion Peter Greenleaf; and three sisters, Elva Greenleaf, Nova Cooney and Grace Poston.
Eva was a homemaker and a cook at the Camden School for a number of years. For many years, she was a receptionist for Roby Funeral Chapel and later Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rushville and the Schuyler-Brown Home Extension from 1945 to 1988. She was a 4-H leader of the Camden Good Neighbors Club. She served as County 4-H chairman in 1951. Her family hosted a foreign exchange student with 4-H.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking. For many years, she and her sister corresponded with letters to each other. After the death of her sister, she began keeping a journal until her death.
A celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with the Reverend Grant Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in the Littleton Cemetery in Littleton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 13, 2014, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in Rushville or the Activity Fund at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mount Sterling.
