METAMORA - Dorothy Helen Knussman, 91, of Metamora, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at Snyder Village in Metamora.
Dorothy was born on June 20, 1923, in Peoria to Arnold K. and Minnie H. Schoenheider. She married the love of her life, Glenn T. Knussman, on May 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1999.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and her niece, Donna Schwindenhammer.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (David) Dodwell of Metamora; her sister, Rose Wilkinson, also of Metamora; two nephews, Steven (Jans) Wilkinson of Eugene, Ore., and Mark (Jane) Wilkinson of Mapleton; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dorothy was a 1941 graduate of Manual Training High School and attended Carthage College in Carthage, Ill.
She retired in 1974 from Bradley University, after working 20 years in the controller's office. She also worked at South Side Bank, Sheridan Village Bank and the Peoria Camera Shop.
Dorothy was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Peoria, where she was active for many years in the choir and Sunday school.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 20, 2014, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Pastor Steven Tibbetts will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Snyder Village or Zion Lutheran Church.
