METAMORA - William David Fenner, 76, of Metamora passed away peacefully at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Snyder Village in Metamora, Ill.
He was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Clinton, Ill., a son of Earl and Gwendolyn Fenner. He married Marilyn Wantland on May 24, 1959. He later married Carolyn Latham on June 24, 1983. She preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 2010.
Surviving are his children, Mark (Ranae) Fenner of Bluegrass, Iowa, Lisa (Mark) Schmidgall of Roanoke, Ill., and Mike Fenner of St. Augustine, Fla.; and one stepdaughter, DeAngela (Matthew) Kimbro of Metamora, Ill. He has 14 grandchildren, Nyles Fenner, Syd Fenner, Isabel Fenner, Ashley (Schmidgall) Schieber, Emily (Schmidgall) Getz, Lilly (Schmidgall) Hoerr, Zachary Schmidgall, Ivy Schmidgall, Christopher Fenner, Courtney Fenner, Carolyn Kimbro, Darrell Kimbro, Sarah Kimbro and Rebecca Kimbro. He also has three great-grandchildren, with two more great-grandchildren on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Earl and Richard; and stepson, Darrell Leininger.
Bill graduated from Clinton High School in 1956. He worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 39 years, retiring in 1996. He loved to fish and to spend time with family and friends. He also dedicated a lot of time to Bible study. He was a man of great faith, who loved the Lord.
Bill fought his cancer battle with great strength and determination.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at Mason Funeral Home in Metamora, Ill. Pastor Gary Salm of Christian Union Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 21, 2014, at Mason Funeral Home in Metamora. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora, Ill., immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Illinois Cancer Care Center or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
