CHILLICOTHE - Robert W. "Bob" Stinson, 58, of Chillicothe passed away and was called home to be with the Lord suddenly during the night on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at his home. He died peacefully in his sleep of natural causes.
He was born Nov. 19, 1955, in Drexel Hill, Pa., to Quentin and Barbara (Melvin) Stinson.
Bob is survived by his wife, Ellen (Lacker) Stinson of Chillicothe; his mother, Barb Stinson of Morton; son, Dan Stinson of Laramie, Wyo.; daughter, Katelyn Stinson of St. Louis; his former wife, Barbara (Davis) Stinson, the mother of his children; two stepsons, Bill Gilomen III of St. Louis and John Gilomen of Edwardsville, Ill.; one brother, Buck (Beth) Stinson of Richmond, Va.; and two sisters, Jody (Pete) Toth of Indianapolis and Bonnie (John) Fairchild of Elizabeth City, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his father on May 2, 2000.
He graduated from Morton High School in 1973 and received his bachelor's degree in 1977 from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo. He did his post graduate studies at Sangamon State University.
Bob was new house coordinator and residential salesman for Fritch Heating & Cooling in Peoria. He previously worked for Peoria County Court Services as a probation officer.
He was a Boy Scouts of America scout master in Mossville, where he received the National Scout Master award. He was a former coach and board member of the Rome Youth Activities Organization. Bob attended Northminster Presbyterian Church, 10720 N. Knoxville Ave., Peoria, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, with Pastor Mike Shirey and Pastor Jerry Tupper officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 24, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
