PEORIA - Stephen Davis Emrick, 82, of Peoria passed away at 9:42 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Stephen was born on April 9, 1926, in Peoria, a son of Francis Albert and Sarah (Davis) Emrick. He married Beth Ann Kreie in June of 1951. In 1970, he married June C. Weber in Lacon. She preceded him in death on Jan. 2, 1999, in Chillicothe.
His parents and one brother, Howard, also preceded him in death.
Stephen is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Hermann) Brandstatter of Peoria; brother, Frank (Donna) Emrick of Appleton, Wis.; sisters, Phyllis Nash of Indianapolis, Ind., Doris (Art) Hayes of Manito and Mary of Peoria; and special friend, Lilas Marie Riddle of Peoria.
Stephen was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Fifth Army Infantry from Jan. 7, 1949, to Feb. 17, 1950.
Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Peoria and later retired as a bookkeeper with OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Stephen was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Peoria, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, with Pastor Stephen D. Barnes officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. The U.S. Army will provide military honors. Following the services, cremation rites will be accorded, and a private interment of the cremated remains will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
