CREVE COEUR - Larry Ray Skinner, 61, of Creve Coeur, Ill., a former Keokuk, Iowa, resident, died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
He was born Oct. 20, 1947, a son of Virgil R. and Mary Jean McMeekan Skinner in Coffeeville, Kan.
Larry worked as purchasing manager at Morris Rubber while in Keokuk and also at Olin Fabricating and Metals in Bloomington, Ill. He was currently employed at the American Red Cross in Peoria as a mobile unit assistant.
He was also an organ donor.
Larry married Judy Lee on July 23, 1967, in Anson Community Church in Anson, Mo.
Upon retirement, he wished to train Seeing Eye dogs.
Larry was a member of St. Patrick Society of Peoria.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; two sons, Sean (Michelle) Skinner and Nicholas (Melissa) Skinner, and two grandchildren, Sydni and Corey Skinner, all of Keokuk; one brother, Robert (Marci) Skinner of Des Moines, Iowa; several nieces and nephews, including a niece, Mary Jeanine Skinner, and a nephew, Burke Harmon; and two sisters-in-law, Charlotte (Stuart) Kerr and Mary (John) Daw.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy, Teri Lynn Skinner.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at First Christian Church in Keokuk, with the Revs. Geoff Mitchell and Matt Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Anson Cemetery in Anson, Mo. Visitation is today after 3 p.m., with family meeting with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Greaves Mortuary in Keokuk.
Memorials may be made to the Heart of America Region Blood Services of Peoria; Lee County Chapter of the American Red Cross; or the Nursery Expansion Fund for the First Christian Church of Keokuk.
