PEORIA - Merlin Standing Yellow Horse, 51, of Peoria passed away at 11:03 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Oct. 22, 1958, in Redmond, Ore.

Surviving are his Uncle Buck and Aunt Suzie, who helped guide him; significant other, Nicole Marie Danielson of Peoria; son, Emerson Forrest Standing Yellow Horse; daughter, Brooke Ballor; and three granddaughters, Ashlyn Garza, Breanna and Josilyn Ballor.

Merlin worked at Alcast in Peoria.

He was a citizen of the Wasco Tribe Nation of Oregon. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Merlin was a spiritual leader and director of the Inipi at Day Spring United Methodist Church (Native American).

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2010, at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, with Pastor Dan Lybarger officiating. Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a trust fund for his son at any CEFCU.
