PEORIA - David "Champ" Robinson Jr., 58, formerly of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago, Ill.
He was born Nov. 20, 1952, in Ruleville, Miss., to David Sr. and Ruby (Thomas) Robinson. He married Ethel Lee Robinson on Aug. 11, 2008, in Maywood, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Ruby Robinson of Peoria; one son, Anthony Robinson of Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Ruby Fay Robinson of Atlanta, Ga., and Ruby Lee Robinson of Peoria; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by five sisters, Ethel Lee Robinson, Hattie Cockroft, Geneva Robinson and Juanita Duncan, all of Peoria, and Blanchea (Lee) McDaniels of Southfield, Mich.; and one brother, William E. Robinson of Peoria, Ill.
He was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters, Augusta Robinson and Emily Robinson; and a sister-in-law, Serelda Robinson.
David was educated in the Peoria school system.
He owned and operated Mr. Simonized Detail Mobil Services in the Peoria and Atlanta areas for 15 years. He contracted out his services to local dealerships and private individuals. He was a hard worker and believed his customers deserved his best.
David united with Bethel United Methodist Church as a child and later served on the usher board. In 2007, He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. at his church. The Rev. Dr. Rose M. Booker Jones will officiate. Cremation will be accorded. Professional and caring services are entrusted to T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel.
