Ronald Pilon Obituary

PEORIA - Ronald Lawrence Pilon, 80, of 8 Spinnaker Way, Salem, S.C., formerly of Peoria, Ill., died Friday, March 18, 2011, at Clemson Downs in Clemson, S.C.

A native of Chicago, Ill., Mr. Pilon was the son of the late Viateur L. and Eleanor Perreault Pilon, born on April 26, 1930. He moved to Peoria with his family in February 1935.

Mr. Pilon attended St. Bernard and St. Thomas parochial schools and graduated from Spalding Institute in 1948. He attended Syracuse University and Bradley University, graduating from Bradley in 1954. At Bradley he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

Mr. Pilon retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1992, after 37 years in a variety of marketing positions domestically and overseas.

He was active in Peoria-area theatrics for 45 years.

Mr. Pilon was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve, the U. S. Air Force and the Illinois Air National Guard.

Mr. Pilon was president of Key Koraliers; a Habitat for Humanity volunteer; member of Keowee Key Dance Club; and member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

In 1951, he married Irene Falkner, who preceded him in death. In February 1973, he married Marilyn T. Yocom, who survives him.

Mr. Pilon is also survived by son, Lawrence R. Pilon (Carla) of Naperville, Ill.; daughters, Angela Pilon Simpson (Michael) of Rock Hill, S.C., and Jody A. Pilon (Steve) of Grand Haven, Mich.; brothers, Jay Pilon (Mary Lee) of Rancho Mirage, Calif., and Gerald Pilon (Katie) of Washington, Ill.; sisters, Annette Maibach (Charles), Diane Nowlan (Wayne) and Cecile Langford (Russell), all of Peoria, Ill., and Estelle Pilon of Goodyear, Ariz.; grandchildren, Heather Simpson, Alice Pilon, Betsy Pilon, Helen Worrell, Rachel Worrell and Frank Worrell; and sisters-in-law, Frances Pilon of Peoria, Ill., Dede Pilon of Springhill, Fla., and Janet Pilon of Crystal, Minn.

In addition to his first wife and parents, Mr. Pilon was preceded in death by brothers, Armand, Bernard and Robert Pilon.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Seneca, S.C.
