BRIMFIELD - Victoria Jean McDonough, 59, of Brimfield died at 12:58 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born Aug. 12, 1951, in Owensboro, Ky., to Wilfred and Helen Mix Lyons, she married Thomas McDonough on Sept. 9, 1972, in Brimfield.
He survives, along with one daughter, Kathleen McDonough of Peoria; one son, Sean McDonough of Brimfield; granddaughter, Amiah; and five sisters, Joan Telian of San Jose, Calif., Beverly Kingdon of Donna, Texas, Anita Sollenberger of East Moline, and Frederica Andrew and Janis Grogan, both of Columbus, Ohio. Debbie Blackburn of Brimfield and many other nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Darrell, and her parents.
Victoria was a teacher and academic adviser at the Academy at Illinois Central College for 20 years, retiring in 2009.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brimfield and served as a CCD teacher and lector at the parish. She was a past member of the Altar and Rosary Society as well.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at her church, with Fr. John Verrier officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with a rosary at 7:45 p.m. Further visitation will be a half hour prior to the Mass at church on Wednesday. Cremation rites will be accorded, and burial of ashes will be in Brimfield City Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church or an educational fund for her granddaughter, Amiah, in care of Brimfield Bank.
