MORTON - Philip D. Farwell, 81, of 331 E. Forestwood, Morton, Ill., passed away at 9:55 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at the Washington Christian Village in Washington, Ill.
He was born Sept. 18, 1929, in Fulton County, Ill., a son of William D. and Rose (Workman) Farwell.
He is survived by two daughters, Angela (Gary) Stuck of Covington, Ky., and Michele (Don) Juen of Sanford, Mich.; one son, Philip D. Farwell, Jr., of Morton; four grandchildren, Rachel (Jeff) Abke, Sarah Eichenberger, Joshua Juen, and Bethany Juen; two brothers, Arthur (Virginia) Farwell of Peoria, and Louis Farwell of Rushville; and one sister, Wanda Landis of Beardstown.
Philip was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a corporal in the Korean conflict from 1951 until 1953.
He worked as a drafting engineer at Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville for over 35 years, retiring in 1985. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed Ham radio.
He was loving and faithful to all he knew and on June 12, he received Jesus as God and Savior.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, with Pastor Brian Kenny officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 20, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria and also one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Browning Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Astoria American Legion Post 25.
