DELAVAN - Lucille Armstrong, 91, of Pekin, formerly of Delavan, passed away peacefully at 3:45 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at her home.
She was born June 6, 1920, in rural Delavan to John B. and Marie Manus Nannen. She married Delmar W. Armstrong on April 20, 1946, and he passed away July 11, 1998.
She was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Jim Burch, and one daughter-in-law, Joyce Armstrong.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Ann (Clifton) Boyles of Pekin and Yvonne Burch of East Peoria; one son, Lowell Dean Armstrong of Delavan; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Eileen (Harry) Anderson of Grand Forks, N.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
Lucille attended Brown's Business College and worked as a deputy county clerk for Tazewell County from 1939 to 1948. She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store in San Jose for two years and then farmed for 16 years in the Delavan area. She also worked at Bergner's Department Store in Delavan, Carson Pirie Scott & Co. in Peoria and Cohen Furniture Store in Pekin.
She was a member of Delavan United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, and Delavan American Legion Auxiliary.
She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends, whom she loved dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as "Grandma White Hair."
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at Davis Mortuary in Delavan. Pastor Larry Moreau will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan.

Lucille and Dell were two of GOD'S best creations. I worked with Dell when he was in Pekin Sears, and my kids loved him.
