PEORIA - Robert L. Trapp, 83, of Peoria passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at 8:30 a.m. at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Robert was born May 17, 1929, in Peoria, the son of John and Louise Roth Trapp. He married Marian J. Hilst in Peoria on Dec. 31, 1955.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years; two sons, Robert (Betty) of Gridley and John D. of Peoria; three daughters, Robin (Mitchell) Day of Peoria, Janine (Chris) Hyde of Spokane, Wash., and Denise (Randy) Berry of North Prairie, Wis.; one brother, John "Jack" Trapp of Peoria; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 5th Regiment of the 1st Calvary during the Korean War.
Robert was an assembler at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1988.
He is a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.
Robert found the most pleasure and fulfillment in his family. He showed his kind and gentle nature every day of his life.
He was an avid gardener, enjoyed cooking and after retirement traveled the United States with Marian.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at St. Ann Catholic Church. Father Terry Cassidy will officiate. Visitation will be at the church, two hours prior to services. Cremation rites will be accorded.
