ROANOKE - Richard "Dick" Goodwin, 75, of Cypress, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Silverado Senior Living in Cypress, Texas. He was formerly of Roanoke and Marquette Heights.
Dick was born Aug. 1, 1937, in Peoria to Joseph and Mildred (Moritz) Goodwin. He married Nan Kuehl in 1990 in Galveston, Texas, and she survives.
Also surviving are seven children, Susan Dobbs of Park Hills, Mo., Connie Weatherford of Pekin, Kathleen (Scott) Goodin of Birnamwood, Wis., Leanna (Rick) Brassell of Eagle River, Wis., Tony Kuehl of Houston, Texas, Roger (Kimberly) Goodwin of Pekin and Pat Goodwin of Pekin; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by three brothers, Paul Goodwin of Houston, Texas, Robert (Lynn) Goodwin of Darien and Donnie (Nancy) Rarick of Germantown Hills; and two sisters, Judy (Bill) McCaskey of Washburn and Diane (Mike) Orr of Roanoke.
Dick was preceded in death by his mother; stepfather, Clete Rarick; one sister, Carol Hamilton; two grandchildren, Travis Weatherford and Jason Goodin; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Weatherford.
After graduating from high school in Roanoke, he served in the Navy and later the Air Force.
Dick worked at Hyster in Peoria for many years. In 1976, he moved to Houston to work for Cameron Iron Works, where he spent over 25 years.
Dick was a wonderful and loving man that enjoyed softball in his earlier years and was an avid bowler in the Peoria area for many years. Dick also enjoyed playing golf and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, much to the chagrin of his brothers and sisters.
Services were held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
