WASHINGTON - Ronald Wayne Burtsfield, 74, of Washington, Ill., died at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013.
Born on April 19, 1938, in Peoria, Ill., to Raymond M. and Hazel Ames Burtsfield, he married Doris Curlin in February 1960 in Peoria. He later married Milagros "Mila" Turner in June 1978 in Washington. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Ronald T. (Mary Jane) Burtsfield of Creve Coeur, Richard D. (Bonnie) Burtsfield of Myrtle Beach, Fla., and Rodney P. (Pat Marcouiller) Burtsfield of Carlock; two brothers, Jack Burtsfield of Washburn and Robert Burtsfield of Peoria; six sisters, Judy Tyree of Peoria, Sue Sharum of Camden, Tenn., Kathleen Cebuhar of Canton, Patricia Bouchez of Bartonville, Peggy Burtsfield of East Peoria and Anna Gibson of West Peoria; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Burtsfield; and one sister, Nancy Clayton.
He was a United States Marine Corps veteran.
Wayne worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 32 years and retired as an Inspection Analyst. He was a ham radio operator and also loved to camp. Wayne enjoyed NASCAR and was a Dale Earnhardt fan and also a Chicago Cubs fan.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary of Lourdes Cemetery in Metamora.
