Dale Culver Obituary

EAST PEORIA - Dale A. Culver, 86, of East Peoria passed away at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in Lincoln.

Born in Greenfield, Iowa, on July 4, 1926, Dale was the son of Dalby Roy and Zarah Alice (Murphy) Culver. He married Rebecca L. McCarthy Sackett on Oct. 9, 1948, in Adel, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Culver of East Peoria; and children, Connie Lee (Lani) Greenway of LaPorte, Minn., and Robert (Cathy) Culver of Greenfield, Wis.; two grandchildren, Bradley Greenway of LaPorte, Minn., and Michelle (Mike) Jones of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Michael Jones, Bailey Jones and Sean Greenway; and one brother, Ronald (Lila) Culver of Des Moines, Iowa.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. Following their move to Illinois in 1953, he went to work at Caterpillar Inc. Dale started his refrigeration business in 1965, where he worked until his retirement in 1990.

He was a member of Kennel Lake Sportsman's Club in Morton and attended First United Methodist Church in East Peoria.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life service is planned for a later date. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
