EAST PEORIA - Luther C. Davis, 93, of East Peoria died at 11:36 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born in Mountain View, Mo., on Dec. 18, 1919, to John and Artie (Speer) Davis. He married Eunice Grant on May 3, 1952, in Peoria and she preceded him in death in 2005.

Surviving are his son, Gerald (Brenda) Davis of East Peoria; grandchildren, Brooke (Edward) Reade of Charlotte, N.C., and Dr. Bradley A. (Danna) Davis of East Peoria; and a great-granddaughter, Adalyn Ava Reade of Charlotte, N.C.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Luther served in the United States Army as a construction engineer during World War II and the Korean War.

He worked as a research machinist at Caterpillar for 34 years.

He belonged to First Baptist Church in Marquette Heights, as well as several other groups, including Cat Retirees Club; UAW Retirees; Frank Nichole Lodge 1170, AF&AM; Campers On Mission, Supervisor: World Changers; and also served as Sunday School director and church trustee.

He and his wife enjoyed God's creations and on his 90th birthday, he completed his travel to all of the 50 states by making a trip to Hawaii.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, at the mortuary. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria following the service, where military honors will be presented.
