PEORIA - Mr. Charles Grant, 67, of Lakewood, Colo., formerly of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 10:42 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Rose Medical Center in Denver, Colo.
Charles was born Jan. 18, 1946, in Peoria.
He is survived by his mother, Lovonia Grant; two sons, Malcolm and James Grant, all of Peoria; five daughters, Lovonia L. Grant of Decatur, Ga., Angela Vines of Raleigh, N.C., and Karen, Tiffany and Pamela Grant, all of Peoria; three brothers, Royce and Lonnie Moore, both of Peoria, and Willie Grant of Mesa, Ariz.; five sisters, Dorothy (Larry) Criss, Darlene Hicks, Charlene (the Rev. Alphonso Jr.) Lyons, Barbara (Edward) Catchings and Bernice Moore, all of Peoria; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son.
Charles was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, who served proudly during the Vietnam conflict. After his military tour, he worked construction for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Mt. Zion M.B. Church, with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 9 a.m. Pastor Alphonso Lyons Jr. will officiate. Charles will be laid to rest in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Ill. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
