PEKIN - Elfrieda M. Sudhoff, 92, of Pekin passed away at 8:44 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Washington Christian Village in Washington.
She was born June 5, 1920, in Kendallville, Ind., to Martin F. and Elizabeth C. (Wessel) Kretzmann. She married Charles O. Sudhoff on March 3, 1957, in Indianapolis, Ind.
Surviving are her husband of Pekin; two sons, David M. (Susan) Sudhoff of Stevensville, Mich., and Stephen E. (Mollie) Sudhoff of Glencoe, Ill.; one daughter, Sharon E. Sudhoff of Eugene, Ore.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
She was a graduate of Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
A registered nurse, Elfrieda was employed by McCray Memorial Hospital in Kendallville, Ind., Rotary Convalescent Hospital for Children at Indiana Medical Center in Indianapolis, Fulton County and Hendricks County in Indiana as a county public health nurse, the Marion County Board of Health in Indianapolis as school nurse and the Indianapolis Visiting Nurses Association.
Elfrieda was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. She taught Sunday School for many years in the various congregations of which she had been a member.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, where she was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Bethel Senior Servants.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, with Pastor Jeff Anderson and Pastor Mark Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
