CREVE COEUR - Alvin Hinano Naeole, 76, of Creve Coeur passed away at 11:45 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born March 22, 1937, in Hoolehua, Hawaii, to William and Martha Kamaka (Kina) Naeole, he married Alice Mae Flores on June 11, 1960, in Platteville, Wis. She died Dec. 6, 1978, in Peoria.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Surviving are two daughters, Kehau (Peter) Leschniok and Noe Naeole, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; one granddaughter, Ashley Ritscher of Phoenix; two brothers, Kulani Naeole of Hilo, Hawaii, and Alan Naeole of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Puaena Neuhart and Noelani (Bob) Joy, both of Hoolehua, Hawaii; several nieces and nephews of Hawaii; and his longtime companion, Billie Jo Miner of Creve Coeur.
Alvin served in the U.S. Navy in the late 1950s.
He worked for Caterpillar Inc., where he earned the nickname "Pineapple," for 35 years, retiring as a machinist in 1999. He was a member of UAW Local 974.
A member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Alvin loved football and baseball. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs.
His funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Sacre Coeur Catholic Church, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
