Mildred Parks Obituary

PEORIA - Mildred "Midge" Morey Parks, 92, of Peoria died at Hillside Lutheran Village Healthcare on Sunday, March 24, 2013.

She was born on Dec. 29, 1920, in Minonk, Ill., to Nellie Belcher and Floyd E. Morey. She married John H. Parks on Oct. 11, 1942, in Minonk, Ill.

Midge is survived by her husband, John; son, John M. Parks; and daughter, Rebecca J. (Frank) Bellrose; and brother Col. (Ret.) John B. Morey; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert James Parks.

Midge was the first employee of the University of Illinois Peoria School of Medicine, where she was executive secretary to the dean.

She was a member and past Chapter FQ president of the PEO Sisterhood and was a board member and treasurer for Wheels O' Time Museum for 24 years. Midge was a deaconess of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Methodist Medical Center Service League, Peoria Regional Museum Society, Peoria Historical Society, Lakeview Museum and the Peoria Riverfront Museum.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private services will be attended by family.
