DUNLAP - Marvin E. Fitzpatrick, 81, of Dunlap passed away at 2:30 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at residence.
Marvin was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Medina Township, Peoria County, Ill., the son of Earl and Mina Aby Fitzpatrick. He married Rosie Begner on Sept. 19, 1954, in Dunlap. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Todd (Kim) Fitzpatrick of Elkhart, Iowa, and Rod (Suzanne) Fitzpatrick of Edelstein; one daughter, Lynne (Steve) Gilles of Kickapoo; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Ann (Dick) Joyce of Brimfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bonnie Moore; and one grandson, Nathan Fitzpatrick.
He worked for Rumbold & Kuhn Inc. for 50 years and Dunlap Motors for 12 years. Marvin was a member of the Dunlap Fire Department for 48 years, serving as fire chief for 15 of those years.
Marvin enjoyed watching all of the grandkids playing sports. He also enjoyed gardening, mowing, and the companionship of his dogs. Marvin was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandpa.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Northwoods Community Church in Peoria. The Rev. Gary Webb will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home in Princeville. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery in Dunlap.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Dunlap Fire Department, Northwoods Community Church or Methodist Hospice, in lieu of flowers.
