The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign ofrecognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SGT Christopher Shingleton our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Christopher. And to Christopher it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during Operations Enduring Freedom while deployed with the U.S. Army. Christopher, you are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Christopher's family and loved ones.

You've been there for me through some of my darkest times. You always made drill fun and you were so unique and fun. I could call you at anytime and you'd be there for me. It's still not getting easier trying to grasp the fact that you won't be coming up with witty responses on Facebook or commenting on my pictures at random times. You were so full of life and God doesn't know how good he has it now. I cannot wait to regroup with you in heaven. I miss you so much, Shingy. I felt you smiling down on me today and I'm glad to have you, please watch over all of us buddy. I love you.

It was always so fun when I was with you. You've always been so funny and would always have those witty come-backs lol. From such a lively person to God's Infantry angel. I cannot wait to regroup with you in heaven, buddy. I miss you more and more everyday. I know you wouldn't want me sad, but I can't help it. Not many are lucky enough to have a guardian angel like you. In fact, today I felt you smiling down on me, I'll be praying to you every night and even though you're not here physically, I know you wouldn't leave me here alone spiritually or emotionally. I love you Shingy, your legacy will forever live on through all of those you've touched.
