DUNLAP - Gerald W. Deemie, 89, of Dunlap, formerly of Peoria, died at 3:51 p.m., June 2, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Sept. 28, 1923, in Peoria, a son of Felix J. and Clare E. (Henne) Deemie, he married Mary Louise Lewis on Oct. 10, 1948, in Buffalo, Ohio. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Susan Deemie of Peoria, Cathy (Gary) Archibald of Royal Oak, Mich., and Peggy (Tom) Robinson of Dunlap; three grandsons, David (Beth) Robinson of Washington, Chris (Leena) Robinson of Peoria, and Matt (Ania) Robinson of Cromwell, Conn.; three great-grandchildren, Anna Hope Robinson and Luke David Robinson, both of Washington, and Iyla Sofia Robinson of Peoria; and two sisters, Fern Deemie and Dorothy Bloom, both of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and one brother.
Gerald was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WW II in the medical corps in France.
He was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. as a machine designer for 42 years, retiring in 1983.
Gerald was a member of Martha Washington Chapter 178 OES and Temple Lodge 46 AF&AM.
He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for many years.
Gerald was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, where a funeral service will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Visitation will be two hours prior to service at church. The Rev. Mike Shirey will officiate. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
