PEORIA - Tommie H. Parker, 91, of Peoria died at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, surrounded by his family, in the comfort of his home.
He was born April 28, 1922, in Atkins, Ark., to Will and Gertie Lemley Parker. He married Beatrice Jones on Oct. 24, 1952, in Peoria. They celebrated over 60 years of marriage. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Tommie, Bryan (Andrea), Rick, Derrick (Tonya), all of Peoria; his grandchildren, Landon (Melanie), Colin, Brittany, Brooklyn and Sidney Parker; his great-grandchildren, Myles Woodward, Colten and Calen Parker; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and six sisters.
He was a United States Army veteran, serving his nation during World War II.
He worked as a machine operator for Caterpillar, Inc., retiring in 1991. He was also the Maitre D' of the Creve Coeur Club in Peoria, for over 20 years.
Tommie was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Peoria for over 60 years, where he served as a trustee of the church and as the church property manager.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at St. Paul Baptist Church in Peoria. The Rev. Deveraux Hubbard will officiate. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services at the church Thursday morning. Entombment, with military honors, will be in the Mausoleum of Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. The Wilton Mortuary of Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
