Doris McRaven Obituary

Macomb - Doris Anne Walker McRaven, 90, of Macomb passed away at 11:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Wesley Village Healthcare Center in Macomb.

She was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Macomb to Judge Wallace and Minnie Worrell Walker; she married J. Dixson McRaven on Oct. 10, 1943. He survives.

Also surviving are her dedicated and loving children, Joseph W. (Barb) McRaven and Linda M. (Keith) Engel, both of Macomb, and James W. (Elena) McRaven of Monmouth; 10 grandchildren, Matt McRaven, Mike (Mary) McRaven, Ann (Matt) McLaughlin, Marty (Lisa) Worsley, Ellen Harlow, Joanna Kellogg, Jennifer (Mike) Twist, Jessica (Pat) Spears, Jacqueline Kellogg and Jodi (Pat) Brown; six great-grandchildren, J.D., Trent, Alex and Macey McLaughlin, and Mia and Nora Worsley; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Alan Walker, and one sister, Mary Lou Hoover.

She graduated from Macomb High School, attended Western Illinois University and graduated from the University of Illinois.

She was a member and officer of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and member of the Presbyterian Women. She was a member of Chapter K PEO, Salvation Army Board, McDonough District Hospital Auxiliary, Macomb Country Club and Golf Association, Macomb High School Bomber Boosters and YMCA and a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

Doris was a 20-year breast cancer survivor; she was a caregiver for numerous family members and friends. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends to many United States destinations and also to Europe, Asia and Australia.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church in Macomb. The Rev. Dr. Kathryn Stoner-Lasala will officiate.

Cremation has been accorded. Private burial of ashes will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, or Chapter K PEO Local Scholarship. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
