TOLUCA - Thomas C. Schmillen, 77, of Toluca died at 1:14 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at his residence, after a courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Toluca, with Father Hans Flondor, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Toluca. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in Toluca, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Toluca Fire and Ambulance Fund, OSF Hospice or .

Tom was born March 21, 1936, in Streator, the son of William Francis and Rose M. Ehrnthaller Schmillen. He married JoAnn Baker on April 15, 1961, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Minonk. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Trisha (Kenneth) Smith of Henry and Lisa (George) Casford of Arlington; three grandchildren, Joshua and Jennifer Jurries and Hanna Smith; three brothers, Eugene (Della) Schmillen of Normal and Donald (Gladys) Schmillen and Gaylord (Marcia) Schmillen, both of Toluca; and three sisters, Eileen (Gerald) Lowrance of Farber, Mo., Delores Topay of Los Gatos, Calif., and Collette (Fred) Rogers of Edelstein.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Francis and William; and a granddaughter.

Tom was a lifetime member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Toluca. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Ann Council 4007 for more than 50 years.

He had served in the Army Reserve and had worked at Hallmark Fixtures, a division of Hallmark Cards, for over 38 years.

Tom loved to travel and enjoyed gardening.
