Skip was born on Oct. 18, 1948, in Peoria, Ill., the son of William and Ida Brun. He graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria, Ill. From then, he was active in the U.S. Navy for six years during the Vietnam War as a member of the Sea Bees, where he learned the skill that would become his lifelong career as a licensed professional land surveyor.

He was an active member of the Morton VFW and the American Legion.

He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed all sports, especially playing golf. He enjoyed a good day at the lake, and grilling out with his family.

He is survived by Susie, his wife of 23 years; his daughters, Katy (Steven) Burnside of Pawcatuck, Conn., and Melody Stuart of Findlay, Ill.; son, Bill Stuart of Hopedale, Ill.; five grandchildren, Phoenix, Emma, Colton, Kristine and Laine; several nieces and nephews, all of whom held a very special place in his heart; and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leslie R. Sale.

Skip was an amazing husband, father, brother-in-law, uncle and friend who never met a stranger. We will miss him every day.
