EAST PEORIA - Joanne Sharon Bowker Bultemeier, 75, of East Peoria died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013.

Joanne was born Feb. 10, 1938, and was a woman of great faith and grace. She was deeply devoted to prayer and service. She was more than a pastor's wife to her husband, David Bultemeier. For more than 50 years, she was a partner in ministry in the many United Methodist Churches they served. Joanne was an inspired leader, while she maintained a humble servant's heart. She was instrumental in forming Walk to Emmaus Communities in Bloomington-Normal and in the Quad Cities. She also participated in prison ministry.

She held an Associates of Arts degree from Illinois Central College and other continuing education to prepare her for her ministry as choir director. Joanne held many jobs in education and in church music. She was a loving teacher to children and adults alike. Joanne was a published author, poet and composer.

Her children, Kathy Rosser, Lori Bultemeier and Michael (Becky) Bultemeier, will continue her legacy of love of God, family and church. Joanne dearly loved her grandchildren, Libby (Spencer) Ingraham, Lauren Rosser and Drake Bultemeier. She also cherished her great-grandson, James Odin Ingraham.

Visitations will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1700 N. Towanda Ave., Normal, Ill. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Normal Calvary, with the Rev. Gary Bass and the Rev. C. William Zander officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Normal Calvary United Methodist Church, East Peoria Willow Hill United Methodist Church and the Christian Life Fund at the Baby Fold in Normal, Ill.
