Richard Kaps Obituary
- Richard E. 'Dick' Kaps, 84, of Morton died at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born May 15, 1929, in Peoria to Frank and Anna (Smith) Kaps. He married the love of his life, Irene Ferreira, on June 3, 1950, in East Peoria.

Surviving are his wife, Irene Kaps of Morton; two sons, Richard W. (Judy) Kaps of East Peoria and David G. (Georgia) Kaps of Morton; five grandchildren, Megan (Mike) Mobeck, Jason, Jennifer, Caitlin and Jon Kaps; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Cameron, Morgan and Braeden; one half sister; and one stepsister.

He was preceded in death by two half brothers.

Dick started with Caterpillar Inc. in 1947 and retired as plant manager in Milwaukee, Wis., in 1987. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton; the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Aurora, Ill.; and Kennel Lake Sportsman's Club in Morton. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and going camping. His proud accomplishments included a perfect 300 game at Plaza Lanes in Washington and a hole-in-one at Quail Meadows Golf Course in East Peoria.

Dick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

The family would like to thank the caregivers from Care Solutions in Washington, who provided Dick with such excellent care and support during the past year.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, with Pastor Jeff Anderson and Pastor Mark Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Ludwig Mortuary in Morton, and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton.
