PEORIA - Earl R. Smith, age 85, of Peoria passed away at 2:10 p.m. on Friday Jan. 31, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.

He was born Oct. 17, 1928, in Peoria to Percy and Vivian (Rodesky) Smith. He married Marilyn Thome on April 3, 1954, in Peoria.

She survives, along with one daughter, Lori (Greg) Prichard of Morton; and two grandsons, Josh (Rachael) Prichard of East Peoria and Eric Prichard of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Milford and Raymond Smith.

Earl was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.

He was an electrician for Central Illinois Light Co. in Peoria for 35 years, retiring in 1994.

He was a member of the Bartonville American Legion Post 979, Timberlake Club and St. John Lutheran Church, where he was also a board member of the Sunday school program for many years.

Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at 6 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church at 6614 W. Smithville Road, in Bartonville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
