PEORIA - Kathryn L. (Maher) Claypool, 88, of Peoria passed away at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at Apostolic Christian Skylines Nursing Home.
Kathryn was born on Sept. 20, 1927, on a farm near Brimfield, Ill., the third daughter to the late Thomas L. Sr. and Elizabeth C. (Boozan) Maher. She married Keith C. Claypool on Oct. 3, 1970, at St. Joseph Church in Brimfield. He survives.
She is also survived by one sister, Rosemary (Cleo) Nollette of Kansas City, Mo.; 19 nieces and nephews; 31 great-nieces and -nephews; and several great-great-nieces and -nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Anna Irene (Naza) Maher; three sisters, Eileen (Maher) Burkitt and Betty and Anita Maher; one brother, Thomas L. Maher Jr.; and two nephews, Michael Maher and James Burkitt.
Kathryn attended grade school in a one-room school, Scotland Prairie Grade School, which was just north of Brimfield. She attended high school at Academy of Our Lady, where she graduated.
She was employed by CILCO (Ameren) as a secretary for nearly 26 years. She also worked several years at the Peoria Observer Papers and Multi-Ad Services.
After retiring, she and her husband enjoyed 24 winters in warm and sunny Arizona.
For many years of her life, Kathryn enjoyed participating with friends in card club activities. She also enjoyed participating in the CILCO bowling league, being with small children and babysitting, especially her young nieces and nephews. She had many avocations, including baking many kinds of cookies, crocheting afghans, working with counted cross-stitching and various craft items. Many of these and other activities produced much-appreciated gifts for friends and relatives, who also looked forward to her delicious Christmas candies and cookies. Additionally, cross-stitching produced lots of very nice framed wall hangings in her home.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel. Father James Pallardy will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the chapel. Cremation rites have been accorded and entombment of ashes will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.

I will miss you Aunt Kate. I'm very sad that you are gone but my memories with you as I was growing up and going to craft shows with you I will always remember. I still have those beautiful Christmas cards and crafts that were so unique. They will be cherished. Love you and Uncle Keith.

Uncle Keith, so sorry for the loss of your wife. Mom, so sorry for the loss of your sister. Mom, I am thankful that you and Dad were able to be there with Keith & Kate during her last days. And while we are mourning her loss we rejoice that she is no longer suffering and is with Our Lord. Many prayers during this difficult time.
Love,
Michele
