Stephen Wells Obituary
EAST PEORIA - Stephen M. Wells, 66, of East Peoria passed away at 5:15 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2016, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.
He was born Nov. 6, 1949, in Peoria, IL, to William and Gloria Righi Wells. He married Patricia A. Wagner in Bozeman, MT, on Jan. 19, 1996. She survives.
Also surviving are 7 children, Jason (Emily) Wells of Creve Coeur, Stephana (Ryan) Barr of Hennepin, Sam Wells of Puyallup, WA, Trish (Rob) Wilson of Peoria Heights, Lynda (Kevin) McDonnough of East Peoria, Robert Ring of Ohio and Stephanie Ring of Washington; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, William (Carol) Wells Jr.; and 2 sisters, Pam (Joe) Zoril and Tammy (Bob) East.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Stephen was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, retiring after 28 years of service. He later taught R.O.T.C. at Manual High School in Peoria.
He was a member of the Benson American Legion. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and trap shooting. Stephen was of the Catholic faith.
A funeral Mass for Stephen will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016, at St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria, with Fr. Stephen Willard officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria, with further visitation 30 minutes before Mass Saturday at church. Burial will be at Clayton Township Cemetery in Benson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Illinois CancerCare.
