Mack L. "Bobby Mack" Lipe
EAST PEORIA - Mack L. "Bobby Mack" Lipe, 83, of East Peoria passed away at 9:06 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mack was born October 19, 1932, in Rogersville, TN, to Mack Earl and Thelma Louise Hilton Lipe. He married Annette Staes on December 3, 1965, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Lisa McWherter of Greenville, TN, Denise Griffin of East Peoria, Tracy (David) Martens of Peoria and Shannon (Chad) Weber and Nicole Lipe, both of East Peoria; grandchildren, Dustin (Rebecca) McWherter, Katie, Gunnar and Garrett Griffin, Joshua (Robin) Fries, Taylor and Cole Dixon and Jacob (Adrienne) Lipe; three great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Thames; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Mack's first love was his wife of 50 years, Annette, whom he cherished, and his family. He loved spending time with them and caring for them. He served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed for two years in Korea.
His passion in life was music and entertaining under his stage name, Bobby Mack, the man with 1000 voices. He recorded and wrote songs in Nashville after moving to East Peoria, where he continued performing. Along with his band, he backed up many big names in country music over the years when they played locally. Mack owned the Music Mill, the Field Steakhouse and the Driftwood, entertaining there and at many other local venues and supper clubs until his health slowed him down.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday August 5, 2016, at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria, with military honors following the service. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Illinois Cancer Care.

Annette and family my heart and prayers go out to you for your great loss! Bobby and I became friends in the late 60's after I got out of the Army! He was such a great man and great friend. I worked with him and for him a lot over the years. I followed him where ever he was playing , The "Man of 1000 Voices was so true. He had a heart as big as anything. He will be truly missed by many people not only as a friend but as a wonderful man and great performer. He sang a lot of my favorite songs for me and did them better than those who had cut them. He was also a great song writer. We had so many good times together. I will always keep him and his family in my prayers. Heaven has gained another Angel with a Golden Voice! GOD BLESS AND LOOK OVER YOU.
