Eubon "Ed" English passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family in Cameron Park on May 20, 2012 at the age of 90.
Ed is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Lori Kirby; son, Ed English; son-in-law, John Kirby; daughter-in-law, Denise English; and grandchildren: Gabrielle Kirby, Fallon Kirby, Logan Kirby, Branson Kirby, Shane English and Scotty English.
Ed was born in Mena, Arkansas to Esther and Maggie English on January 21, 1922. He left Arkansas in 1942 for San Pedro, Calif., where he worked as a teamster until 1951. In 1951 Ed moved to Oakland, Calif., where he was employed by Greyhound Bus Lines until 1956. He met his wife, Shirley, of 55 years while working for Greyhound and they married in 1956. In 1962 they moved to Auburn and in 1963 Ed was employed by Placer County where he worked as Sanitation Superintendent until 1979 at which time he started his own business as a plumber. He owned and operated "Ed's Plumbing" until he had a stroke in 2004. At 82 years old he officially retired, much to his dismay. Ed was a tireless, selfless person that made many friends through his business. He was a 36 year member of the Auburn Elks and a Charter Member of The Model A Club of America. His passion was his 1929 Model A Ford pick-up and 1930 Roadster, that he restored to mint condition.
There will be a memorial on June 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. at 1445 Live Oak Lane in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Make-A-Wish in memory of his granddaughter, Danielle English, or the Hospice of your choice.
