Wayne will always occupy a special place in our hearts. I always loved seeing his smiling face when we would play music together. He was a good man and a great friend. We will miss him but always have fond memories. God bless Wayne and his family.

This is such a sad time for all of us that was a part of Wayne's life, he was the KINDEST man, always had a smile and hug. He was a large part of our lives the last 12 years because of the reunion of Mom (Ida) and Wayne, they helped each other through some lonely times and really enjoyed each other's company, his music always made everyone smile! You must be so proud to call him Dad, we were proud to call him part of our family. He will be missed so much. Love Mike & Sue Helmer

We will miss Wayne for many reasons and we send our prayers and condolences to Donna, Gary, and Steve and to their families and grandchildren. What a great spirit he has always been. His giving continued throughout his life and we celebrate the beautiful soul he is. No question he is in heaven having the greatest family reunion of all!
Love You!

"70 years is our life span---80 years with special mightiness." (Psalms 90:10) Wayne had 93 years of special mightiness. May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of the times you spent together as you celebrate a live well lived.

Carl Wayne was a first cousin to our father, Robert E. "Bob" Hedman of Hayes, SD, who passed in 1999. It is with sadness that we hear of Wayne's death following a very full and eventful life. We want to send sympathies to his descendants, our cousins in California. God Bless all of you in the rememberance of your father.
Our common family roots in Stanley County, South Dakota are there forever.

Wayne was a wonderfully friendly and kind man. He always had a smile to bring me even if he wasn't feeling it himself. He was an incredible musician yet so humble, one would actually believe he "wasn't all that good" that is until you heard him play. I will miss you Wayne. Thanks for including me as one of your friends.
Peace,
Jerry

Wayne has been a friend of The Salt Mine since he learned of The Salt Mine years ago. We even had the privilege of Wayne and his friends coming to The Salt Mine and playing Blue Grass and Southern Gospel music for an entire evening . . . Wonderful evening and a Great time was had by all in attendance! Wayne has had a "heart" for hurting people and has contributed to the Feeding Program at The Salt Mine for over fifteen years. Our sympathy to Wayne's family and we know he will be missed, he is a man of compassion and conviction.

To the family of Wayne Hedman; you have my deepest condolences. I realized that you all referred to Alice as Edith. I only met her over the internet. Was so excited to finally talk with someone connected to my dad's family. She was able to give me so much information about our family...and I was able to update her on my dad's family. Then our reunion was cut short when she found out she had cancer. God love Wayne. He was a trooper and held on after her passing. Thank goodness for the love of his friends and music. Edith (or Alice) sent me a tape of the group playing music. It was wonderful to listen to. My husband's family used to do the same thing until they all passed away. The music died on Earth, but I know Heaven was rockin'. And don't you know that Mr. Wayne has gone to play for them now. Rest in Peace, Wayne. And, Donna. You are in my prayers as you move forward. You never forget them. They leave an indelible mark on our heart. Mildred Rease Clark

I very much enjoyed my time spent with Wayne and the band; he had a special place in my heart along with Alice. My Condolences, Fran Johns

Many years ago, we desperately needed a well. Of the three well people that came to give us a bid, Wayne stood out. And he not only dug the well but helped us with the pump and electrical as we were quite poor back then. He went out of his way for us.
He didn't know that we played music, nor did we know that he did, also. Consequently, a few years later we hooked up and did a lot of music together. Wayne was not only a good musician, he was a great and kind individual. We shall indeed miss him, but are honored to have known him.
