GIRTEN, LUANNA J.  
PLAIN CITY - Luanna J. Girten, 70, of Plain City, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center. Born Sept. 22, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio. Lifelong member and baptized in the Gay Street United Methodist Church, Mt. Vernon and currently a member of the Plain City United Methodist Church. A faithful Christian and a true believer of the guidance of the Lord Jesus Christ. Active in the small group sessions at the church and assisted in the Bible Study at the Edgewater Place Assisted Living every Monday. She always enjoyed participating and serving on many committees with her church family. She retired from the State of Ohio Department of Commerce as a Financial Institution Examiner after over 20 years of service. Since retirement she has become an accomplished nature photographer and has been able to travel the world with her best friend, love of her life and devoted husband Gary. A 1962 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and proud member of the "62 Girls." Preceded in death by parents, Ralph and Margaret (Hollingsworth) McKinstry; son, James Porter. Survived by her loving husband, Gary S. Girten whom she married May 24, 1986 at the Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon; daughter, Nancy (Robert Fogle) Butler; 3 grandchildren, Beth Brink, Dawn Roberts, Donald Kosegi; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Hannah, Haley, Breanna and Jordan; and many extended family and close friends. The family will receive friends 2-5 p.m. Sunday, July 5 at the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 202 E. Main St. (State Route 161 W.), Plain City. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Plain City United Methodist Church, 209 N. Chillicothe St., Plain City, with Pastor Blaine Keene officiating. Graveside service 1:30p.m. Monday, July 6, at the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens, 18260 Coshocton Road, Mt. Vernon, OH 43050.
