Joan Ann Dew Adelsberger, 80, of Marysville, died Saturday evening, April 27, 2013, at her home following an extended illness.
She retired from the Carlyle House in Plain City and also had previously worked at the Red Brick Tavern in Lafayette and The Peddler Gifts in Hilliard.
She was a graduate of West High School in Columbus where she excelled in sports.
A very social person Joan enjoyed being with her many friends, was a member of the Red Hatters, volunteered at the Windsor Manor Senior Center and, in the past 10 years, while she and her husband John resided in Marysville she was a member of the First English Lutheran Church. She loved to collect Angels and she found her Angel when she met John.
Joan was born April 21, 1933, in Barnesville, to the late John R. and Margaretta Clouse Dew and was raised in Columbus.
She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Paul Adelsberger.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, John T. Adelsberger whom she married Jan. 15, 1977; her children, John "Jack" (Theresa) Parsons, Vicki (Tom) Greco, Doug (Joyce) Parsons, Robert "Bubba" (Annette) Parsons, Lori (Rob) Graber; stepchildren, JoAnn (David) Dhume, Jane Adelsberger, Phil (Bridget) Adelsberger; 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and her companion, Boston Terrier, Tuffy.
Calling hours were held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the INGRAM FUNERAL HOME, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, OH 43040. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the First English Lutheran Church, 687 London Ave., Marysville. The Rev. Paul Schultz officiated. Interment followed at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Somerford Cemetery, Summerford.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First English Lutheran Church or the Union County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
