JEANE MORGRIDGE RHOADES
LONDON — Jeane Morgridge Rhoades, 82, of Plain City, passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2014.
She was born in Kansas on Oct. 27, 1931.
She attended Southern Seminary and graduated in the class of 1949. Jeane married Frederic William Rhoades and together they had six children.
Jeane is the daughter of Mark Allen and Luluvaugh Morgridge (Reeves) Mortimer.
Her family includes her children, Dr. Howard (Dorothy) Morgridge Rhoades of Houston, Texas, Richard (Vicky) Morgridge Rhoades of Circleville, Jeane (Blain) LaVaughn Rhoades Michioka of Hawaii, Frederic Morgridge Rhoades of Hawaii, James (Ivanne) Morgridge Rhoades of Arizona, Gordon (Joanna) Morgridge Rhoades of Plain City; 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews, Jane (Rhoades) Chittenden, Charyl Ann Lux, Scott Stevens and Stephen Rhoades.
Her husband Frederic preceded her in death in 1986.
As her children grew she extended her caring nature into the community as a practicing massage therapist. She was a member of the AMTA both state and national. She enjoyed working at the Pan AM games as a masseuse. She was a talented astrologer who for years wrote a weekly astrology column for the London newspaper. She enjoyed serving her fellow man and followed her heart into countless hours of volunteering at the Madison County Hospital as well as hospice. She was very proud of heritage and civic responsibilities which included the Chamber of Commerce, DAR, Colonial Dames of America, the Business Professional Woman, The East High Street Club, Women's Club, Hospital Auxiliary, the London Athletic Boosters Club and her favorite, her Golden Girls Club. She enjoyed her church and assisted as a lay reader for Trinity Episcopal. She loved the London Community Theatre where she served as a prompter and assistant director.
Jeane was very passionate about seeing the wonders of the world, traveling across the globe. Her journeys took her throughout Europe, to Russia, Egypt, Australia, Tahiti, Brunei, the Philippines and across South America. She enjoyed spending time in Hawaii and also living in Belize for several years.
A gathering of family and friends to joyfully celebrate Jeane's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 10 E. Fourth St., London, Ohio. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow at the church.
