A memorial service will be held for Gilbert Silva, 66, of Roswell at 10:00 am Saturday, July 21, 2012, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father Charlie Martinez officiating. His Heavenly Father called him home on July 13, 2012. He was surrounded by his wife and family whom love him dearly and will be missed by all who knew him.
Gilbert was born May 17, 1946, to Valentine and Lydia Silva in Puerto De Luna, New Mexico. He married Joanne Moreno Silva on September 17, 1983. He retired from Queen Oil & Gas as a service man. Gilbert was a loving husband, father, and friend. He loved his family more than life itself. He loved working on his lawn, fishing, golfing, camping, telling jokes, watching movies, and talking to his brother on the phone every day. He loved to joke around with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Silva of the home; seven children, Renee Kennybrew of Roswell, Angel Silva of California, Joannie Salazar and her husband, Chris of Roswell, Susie Roe and her husband, Adam of Roswell, Eric Burrell and his wife, Roberta of Clovis, George Velasquez of Roswell, and Angel Leyba and her husband, Lupe of Roswell; twenty-nine grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; his special brother and friend, Valentine Silva of Clovis; special sister, Gena Silva, who he adored, from Hawaii and his special nephew, Ray Marhefka and his wife, Sherry of Washington; his brothers, Milton Silva and his wife, Dee of Albuquerque, Gerald Silva and his wife, Laveda, Julia Silva, Patsy Prince, Alice Marhefka, Angie Garcia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his daughter, Leila Silva; his grandson, Jose Miguel (Mikey) Chavez; his parents, Valentine Silva Sr. and Lydia Silva Roybal; three brothers, Horacio, Felix, and David.
