George P. Andreos Obituary
George P. Andreos was born January 20, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years obtaining the rank of Captain. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law in 1965.
In 1989 he served on the Business Advisory Committee for the Poway Center Performing Arts. He served as President for both the San Diego County Bar Association in 1991 and the San Diego Trial Lawyers Association in 1981. Recognized in the field as a superior trial lawyer, he was honored by the San Diego Trial Lawyers Association in 1982 as the "Outstanding Trial Lawyer." He held the position of President of the California Western Law School Alumni Association. In September 2006, George was inducted into the San Diego Trial Lawyers' Hall of Fame.
A friend quotes, "the legal profession glows less bright this week, but the heavens shine all the more brightly."
For three years he served as the treasurer for the Community Church of Poway and remained an active and supportive member.
George played 4-wall handball with his friends on a weekly basis. He participated in multiple tournaments including the Marine Corps Annual Tournament in San Diego. His consistent enthusiasm for this sport was strong and enduring. Whether or not he won the match was insignificant; he loved the game. He also loved outdoor activities such as attending to his produce groves, camping and hiking, and going to sporting events. He was a big contributor and sponsor to many local sports programs.
George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beverly; four children, Leslie Sharpe, Linda Delong, Darin Andreos and Craig Andreos; seven grandchildren, Alexa, Nick and Ryan Sharpe; Makenzie, Lindsay, Charlie and Junior Delong; daughter-in-law, Sandy Andreos; and sons-in-law, David Sharpe and Chuck Delong.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Church of Poway.
