Dorothy died peacefully in her sleep January 21, 2013, after a brief, but courageous battle with lymphoma. She was 81 years old.|
Dorothy was born in Compton, CA, October 23, 1931, and her family settled in Covina, where she later graduated from Covina High School. She briefly attended San Diego State College.
She married Russell Russo in July 1955 and started a family in Covina. Later, they relocated to Poway and raised four children, Teri, Susan, Lori and Michael.
When Russell passed away in 1972, Dorothy began working as a secretary in the Poway Unified School District, and later an executive secretary with the Frazee Paint Company, before retiring in 1996. Dorothy tirelessly worked to raise four loving children.
She is survived by her four children; six grand-children; and two great-grandchildren.
Wherever Dorothy went, she had a smile on her face and love in her heart. Whether you knew her as Mrs. Russo, Dorothy, Aunt Dottie, grandma, great-grandma or simply mom, you felt her love. Dorothy lived an exemplary life… and will be sorely missed.
