To us, her children, she was known as Mom...|
To her CB friends, she was known as Mother Dear...
To everyone else she was known as Marilyn Bayne.
Mom lost her battle with Myasthenia Gravis on May 16, 2013, a disease that was completely unknown to all of us until her diagnosis in April 2012.
She has left behind her loving children, grandchildren, granddogs, and grandkitties.
A Poway resident for the last 50+ years, Mom was very active with the Poway Senior Center, the Poway City Council, and was a "self elected" neighborhood Mayor of Russ Estates where she has lived for the last 40 years. She also tended the election polls for the past 17 years, putting in countless hours of preparation on and for the day of the elections. She was loved by many, tolerated by some; but if you knew her and called her your friend, she would be there to help with everything and anything. She drove many friends who were not able to drive themselves to doctor appointments and helped with their errands. She retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles after a long career as the Control Cashier.
She enjoyed her retirement, spending time at the various local casinos or going to Las Vegas with her brother, Jay, who preceded her in death in March 2013. She worked hard as a single parent to raise her children making many, many sacrifices along the way. She will be missed greatly, even more than she knows, but she is resting peacefully now and in that we all take great comfort.
A memorial open house is planned for June 6, 2013, at 3:00 pm at her home in Poway. Please email email@example.com for directions.
If interested, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Poway Senior Center, 13094 Civic Center Drive, Poway.
