Anna May Carlson, known to her friends as Annie, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2013, at Palomar Hospital, Escondido, CA, in the care of Hospice. She had been a resident of San Diego County for nearly 30 years.|
She was born May 6, 1924, and was raised in Eaton, CO. She married Elmer J. Carlson on February 21, 1945. They were married for 48 years, until Elmer's death in 1993.
Anna was an amazing woman to all who knew her. A devout Lutheran, war wife, farm girl, truck driver, 4-H Leader, expert cook, master seamstress, carpenter, landscape artist, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. She loved bowling, gardening, baking, but most of all loved to share her passions and love with her family. Anna considered learning to snow ski (in her 40's) one of her greatest accomplishments. She accomplished many other things, but her true enjoyment in life was about the joy she brought to others as well as the beauty that she surrounded herself with in her home and community. Her generosity was endless!
Annie is survived by two sisters; four children, Earl Pete (Bernice Goetchel) Carlson of Hawk Springs, WY, Joyce Carlson of Green Forest, AR (formerly Ramona), Chuck (Alice) Carlson and Arne (Carri) Carlson both of Ramona; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and six sisters.
A memorial celebrating her life will be held November 9, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at The Lutheran Church of the Incarnation, 16889 Espola Rd., Poway, CA 92065.
Annie would prefer that you make a donation to the church or charity of your preference in her memory.
