Lois A. Earnest

1923 - 2015

ABERDEEN – Lois A. Earnest, 92, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, at Oak Tree Plantation in Amory. She was born June 19, 1923m to William Miles Awtrey and Etta Idellus Cantrell Awtrey in Una. She graduated from Northeast Mississippi Community College and from Mississippi State University with a bachelor and master's degrees. She was a teacher and supervisor of Special Education and a member of Mississippi Association of Educators. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Aberdeen.
A memorial service will be at 3 p. m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Ray Stokes, Bro. Larry Maugh and Bro. Mark Covington officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Hollis (Jim) of Meridian and Lois E. Hart of Walhalla, South Carolina; one son, Charles E ""Buddy"" Earnest (Laura) of Aberdeen; five grandchildren, Leanne Metzger (Brad), Melissa Marcum (Hal), Laura Anne Baty (Shane), Jay Hollis (Cecilia), Billy Earnest; 15 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, the Rev. Charles E. Earnest Sr.; two grandchildren, Sarah Louise Hollis and Emma Louise Earnest; five sisters; one brother; and one son-in-law, Lendon Hart.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today Oct. 2, 2015, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church , St. Mark United Methodist Church and Sanctuary Hospice of Tupelo.
