Orval C. Kerrwood, 80, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on August 25, 2018.
He was born in Burlington, IA on August 19, 1938 to Verna and Donald Kerrwood.
In 1956, he enlisted in the United States Army embarking on a distinguished 30-year military career.
His duties included a tour in Korean, two tours in Vietnam, and several state side assignments. He capped his career with a twelve year stint with the 31st military police detachment, which was later renamed Office of the Provost Marshal Headquarters United State Army Military Community Activity, Stuttgart. In his capacity as Provost Marshal, he was responsible for military police patrols, military police investigations and physical security for the community.
Amongst several awards for his heroic service, Master Sergeant Kerrwood was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and he had a passion for fishing, the Atlanta Braves, enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending quality time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and you could find him constantly working on projects in his garage.
He is survived by his wife Yvette, to whom he has been married to for 59 years, three children, Isabelle (Ronald) Stover of Goshen, NY, Veronique Neel-LeBon of Port Charlotte, FL, Patrick (Merritt) Kerrwood of Siloam Springs, AR. He is proceeded in death by his son Lawrence Kerrwood. He had 9 grandchildren, Brandon, Brock, Ryan, Brent, Brennan, Ashlyn, Jordan, Shawn and Shelby, 10 great grandchildren, Christian, Brianna, Gianna, Arianna, Trenton, BJ, Hunter, Caiden, Bryce, Carson and survived by his brother Lyle Garmoe of Burlington, IA.
Visitation: Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Celebration of Life: Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. with Dee Roberts officiating and Full Military Honors
