Barbara E. Halblaub

MARBLEHEAD: Barbara E. Halblaub, 82, of Marblehead, Ohio, died Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton, Ohio. She was born on August 20, 1930 in Ashland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Phillip Eugene and Dorothy (Miller) Flickinger. She was a 1948 graduate of Loudonville High School.

On June 27, 1948 she married Billy K. Halblaub and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2010.

Barb worked as a teller and then as Assistant Vice President of the Marblehead Bank for 30 years until her retirement. She also worked for a short time at Biro Manufacturing in Marblehead. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Marblehead where she served as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer; member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Marblehead VFW Post #7572; as well as a member of the Danbury Peninsula CCL (Child Conservation League). She was an avid card player, especially playing pinochle and bridge, and enjoyed cooking and flower arranging.

Survivors include her son: Scott (Lorrie) Halblaub of Marblehead; grandson, Shane (Sidsel) Halblaub of Marblehead; two great granddaughters, Astrid and Eva Halblaub; sister, Joann (Gaylord) Taylor of Marblehead; and sisters-in-law,Charlotte Lavinder of Loudonville, Ohio, Norma Crowell of Crestline, Ohio, and Darlene Flickinger, of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter,Holly Halblaub; and brother, Harold Thomas Flickinger.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 14, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 10am until Funeral Services at 11am at the First United Church of Christ, 802 Prairie Street, Marblehead, with Reverend Kay Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township.
